Jarjum Gurema

Jarjum Gurema is a children’s book created by Mununjali Jymbi Support Services, Ja Jabuny Club and  the Mununjali Playgroup and is based on local Yugambeh greetings and totem animals of the Mununjali area. Scenic Rim Regional Council are proud to be a part of this wonderful project that contributes to the revival of the Yugambeh language and spreads the importance of early literacy. The vibrant and original illustrations inside this story celebrate the local Yugambeh language (Mununjali dialect) and allow families with young children to share the language through story, song and dance.

The book would not have been made possible without funding from State Government of Queensland and coordination by State Library of Queensland. We also acknowledge the Mununjali elders and Yugambeh Museum for sharing their stories and knowledge in creating this story.
